Directed by Jonathan Frakes
The best Star Trek film adventure yet is this visually stunning masterpiece by first-time director and long-time cast member Jonathan Frakes. Patrick Stewart continues to play Captain Jean-Luc Picard, the head of the crew on the prestigious U.S.S. Enterprise, whose present mission is to follow the deadly Borg species back through time to prevent them from changing the important courses of history that have brought the human race so far in its technological and ideological development. Alice Krige is astonishing as the head of the evil and apparently unstoppable Borg race, and the supporting cast is as colourful as it is helpful to the plot. Frakes films the whole thing as a beautiful space opera that practically glides from scene to scene, and he is helped along by the best writing this particular franchise has ever had to work with, plus visual effects that actually put Hollywood science-fiction to the creative test.
